The Assistant Manager assists with the day-to-day operation and staff support in an automated Source Plasma center. Additionally, this position is responsible for filling the role of the Center Manager in her/his absence.




• Supports the center staff with questions, concerns and/or other needs.

• Performs all production area job descriptions as required / assigned, and maintains certifications in all production job positions.

• Performs all job duties in a safe manner and uses required personal protective equipment.

• Enforces all safety procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Company policies.

• Performs specific routine duties, as assigned by the Center Manager.

• Assists with troubleshooting and/or implementing corrective action, as necessary.

• Interacts internally with center IBBI personnel and with donors

• Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Company policies.


• Assumes the responsibilities of the Center Manager in his/her absence.

• Performs other duties as required/assigned.



• High school diploma or equivalent, required

• Some college level course work in business, sciences or medical field is a plus

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or the biological sciences is preferred

• Two years supervisory experience is preferred; experience working with the community/public

• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, Safe Operating Procedures, Safety Data Sheets and Biohazardous Waste

• Must have above average problem-solving and decision-making abilities

• Must be self-directed and highly-motivated

• Must have excellent analytical skills, organization skills, and follow-up

• Ability to effectively manage staff and maintain positive relationships with all levels of employees

• Experience in an FDA-regulated industry is preferred

• Must have explicit attention to detail

• Quality Assurance background is a plus

• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within Interstate Blood Bank, Inc. and provide excellent customer service

• Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments

• Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner

• Ability to participate in multi-functional teams and work in production areas

• Proficiency with computers



• Typical work environment with moderate noise level

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop or crouch, hand/wrist use, talk, see, and hear for extended periods of time, examples include:

  • Reaching - Final packing of product, receiving softgoods / supplies
  • Climbing - Final packing of product, receiving softgoods / supplies
  • Bending/Stooping/Lifting - Final packing of product, receiving softgoods / supplies
  • Standing - Final packing of product, receiving softgoods / supplies, observe areas
  • Walking - Routinely observes employees and donors
  • Hand/Wrist Use - Reviews ePro reports, completes equipment records, writes reports
  • Observing/Seeing color - Reviews donor ePro record files, documents deferrals, reviews softgood tags
  • Hearing/Listening - Center activity, hears alarms, hears fans running in storage units, hears timing devices
  • Talking/Communicating - Final verification of units, discusses employee issues, communicates with corporate officers, interviews potential employees
  • Sitting - Reviews ePro reports, completes equipment records, writes reports
  • Time Management - Keeps the Management task flow consistent, manages the amount of time needed for tasks, reviews records within the specified time frame
  • Focusing - Concentrates on the task at hand, minimizes distractions
  • Reading - SOPs, instructions, forms, reports, graphs, labels, body maps, Company policies
  • Withstand Cold - Ships samples, final packing of product, loads unit shipments onto truck

• Ability to work with toxic or caustic chemicals 25 - 50 % of the time.

• Have exposure to outdoor weather conditions (shoveling or salting in the case of snowy weather).

• Ability to read and understand documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, correspondence

• Ability to write short correspondence, reports, and procedural instructions

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from regional managers, employees, suppliers, and external customers

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide. Ability to perform mathematical operations using units of US dollars, weight measurement, volume, and distance.

• Ability to read a calendar, an analog clock, and use a calculator.

• Ability to use a spreadsheet.

• Ability to understand and calculate deferral periods and sample periods.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to apply instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form.

• Ability to deal with problems involving a multiple variables in complex situations.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Travel is negligible

• Daily attendance is required
