We are looking for an IT Business Continuity Systems Engineer to join the IT Infrastructure Core & Services Division at Grifols SA., company specialized in the research, development, and production of purified plasma proteins with therapeutic properties obtained from the fractionation of human plasma. 

 

Role Mission

 

You will play a key role in ensuring that data protection and backup services meet corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and audit expectations. Acting as the main liaison between the business and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), you will drive service quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across the data protection landscape.

 

What your responsibilities will be

 

  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for backup, data protection, and compliance-related topics.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to infrastructure teams on backup and data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with architecture teams to design, evolve, and manage the lifecycle of data protection platforms.
  • Contribute to the definition and implementation of solutions aligned with technical, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops and discussions to ensure backup solutions are effectively integrated into the corporate technology landscape.
  • Own and maintain technical and functional documentation related to data protection services and processes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for quality, validation, and internal/external audit activities related to data protection.
  • Support audit processes by managing evidence, deviations, non-conformities, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer activities between the backup function and other areas of the organization.
  • Manage and coordinate project and service demand in collaboration with project management teams and technology vendors.
  • Oversee the transition of new projects and solutions into managed services operations.
  • Monitor and follow up on major incidents, recurring issues, and support activities handled by external service providers.

  • Degree, Technical Engineering degree, or equivalent qualification in Computer Systems, Information Technology, or related fields.
  • Experience of 5 – 10 years in the administration and management of backup and data protection platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of backup tools such as Dell NetWorker (Highly Valuable), PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), Veeam, and Commvault.
  • Experience managing backup infrastructure devices such as Data Domain and LTO tape libraries.
  • Proven experience working in complex, high-availability corporate environments.
  • Experience in regulated environments and audit-driven organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of quality processes, validation, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
  • Advanced level of English and Spanish
  • Ability to coordinate multiple initiatives and manage service demand effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, and external service providers.
  • Strong orientation towards quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.
