Summary:
This position requires demonstrated leadership and expertise in the development, scale-up, and transfer of purification processes for plasma-derived proteins. The role requires the application of comprehensive process understanding of purification unit operations (e.g. precipitation, filtration, chromatography, and tangential flow filtration) to design, execute, analyze, and report technical studies. The incumbent will lead and/or independently conduct studies within a project team to generate data that supports meaningful conclusions. This position is best suited for a self-starter who can adapt to evolving projects and work environments effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication and leadership capabilities, with a proven ability to work both independently and as a member of cross-functional teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead process development projects by defining deliverables, planning and coordinating activities, overseeing execution, providing direct laboratory support, analyzing experimental data, and communicating technical results and recommendations to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Design, plan, and execute scientifically sound experiments by leveraging process knowledge to evaluate key variables and support development objectives.
- Develop and implement experimental protocols, methodologies, and data collection strategies to ensure reliable, reproducible, and technically robust results that support project goals and decision-making.
- Analyze experimental data to draw meaningful conclusions and provide actionable insights.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate experimental findings into process development and optimization.

Education and Experience:
Senior Process Development Scientist I:
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a relevant science/engineering field with 7+ years of relevant work experience, or an advanced degree with equivalent combination of education and experience.
Senior Process Development Scientist II:
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a relevant science/engineering field with 8+ years of relevant work experience, or an advanced degree with equivalent combination of education and experience.
Occupational Demands For Scientist:
Work is performed in a manufacturing and/or a laboratory environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Exposure to chemicals. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits and bends neck for 4-6 hours per day. May stand and twist neck for 2-4 hours per day. Occasionally walks, bends and twists waist and squats. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Moderate lifting of 15-30lbs. with a maximum lift of 35 lbs. May reach above and below shoulder height. Color perception/discrimination, near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently works with diverse groups to obtain consensus on complex issues. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
