Import Logistics Specialist II

Reporting to and taking direction from Sr. Supervisor Import Logistics Operations. This position deals with all import activities for assigned Grifols business units (GTI, Biomat).  Heavy interaction with Shippers from overseas is required to ensure delivery timelines and required temp control (if required) are met.  Incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision.  The incumbent is expected to recognize import terms and associated documentation to allow quick reaction to unexpected imports which require providing instructions to brokers, inland carriers, etc., and allow timely delivery of import to ultimate recipient.  Knowing where to find the information, such as import customs regulations is essential.  The incumbent must display sound judgement and creative thinking when dealing with U.S, govt agency holds and detentions and procedural problems for urgent and permanent resolutions.  Problem solving will require tact and diplomacy as the role will serve to detect and escalate problems.  Adhering to established procedures is required.  Records must be kept according to U.S. laws and regulations.                              

 

Primary Responsibilities for the Role:                                                               

  • Create and maintain import files                                                         
  • Participate on weekly imports from Canada                                                     
  • Assist with closure of TIBs for weekly Canadian shipments                                                      
  • Work with recipient of import to facilitate customs clearance                                                     
  • Research product composition to assist with HTS and FDA code classification                                                     
  • Review and approve broker invoices and inland carrier invoices in the Freight Payment system on a timely basis                                                         
  • Review import entry for accuracy                                                                                                     
  • Participate in the maintenance of Grifols IMS                                                  
  • Attend scheduled meetings associated with imports as scheduled                                  
  • Conduct continual track & trace of imports until delivered         

 

Stay informed of political climate and changes that are implemented through current administration.

Knowledge of U.S. import laws and regulations as well as govt agencies such as: FDA and USDA is preferred.  Working in office environment; teamwork, collaboration with other depts is required.

  • Incumbent requires a AS degree plus 3 years of work experience in a customer service and import shipping environment, or 7-10 years of applicable business experience.
  • A demonstrated ability to work with automated customer service and sales  systems, including database systems, is essential. Knowledge of US Customs / Department of Commerce import regulatory law is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are necessary. Flexible working hours are required.
  • Incumbent must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must display sound judgment and creative thinking when dealing with and diagnosing system and procedural problems. Problem solving will require tact and diplomacy as the role will serve to detect and correct problems.

 

 

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.   Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
