This opportunity is a hybrid position based in the RTP office and relocation is available.

 

Summary:
This position plays a key role in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of a robust Health & Safety (H&S) program within Grifols Plasma Operations. The role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local occupational safety and health regulations, while promoting a proactive safety culture that protects Grifols employees, facilities, donors, and surrounding communities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain health and safety programs across approximately 300 plasma donation centers throughout North America.
  • Deliver and facilitate H&S training programs, serving as a subject matter expert on corporate and regulatory H&S standards.
  • Actively participate as a functional member of the Health and Safety Steering Committee, contributing to strategic planning and program development.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments of plasma donation facilities to identify hazards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
  • Develop, revise, and implement H&S policies and procedures in collaboration with the Health and Safety Leadership Team.
  • Assist in the execution of safety initiatives aimed at reducing workplace incidents and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses to determine root causes and recommend effective corrective and preventive actions inclusive of monitoring and measurement of effectiveness to closure.
  • Maintains and ensures accurate and timely safety performance metrics and statistical records for reporting and analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments and support global H&S initiatives to ensure alignment and consistency across the organization.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in occupational health and safety.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in an environmental, health, and safety (EHS) role.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Safety Professional [CSP], Certified Industrial Hygienist [CIH]) preferred. May substitute for an advanced degree with 5+ years of direct EHS experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, fire and building codes, ergonomics, and chemical safety.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and motivate others toward a shared safety vision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with safety management systems or EHS software is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed.

 

 

Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/clinical environment.  Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear and gloves.  Exposure to electrical office equipment.   Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. May perform duties standing. Occasionally bends and twists neck and waist.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Occasionally drives to other facilities.  Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works with little need for guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management and plans work schedules to meet goals. Performs a wide range of tasks with little predictability of occurrence. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
