The Procurement Site Manager leads all purchasing activities at the site level, playing a key strategic role in shaping the vision and mission of the procurement function. This role is responsible for driving cost savings, operational efficiency, and building strong, long-term relationships with suppliers, while ensuring alignment with broader business goals and compliance standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic procurement plans aligned with long-term business objectives.
  • Manage procurement budgets and resources to ensure efficient use of funds and achievement of financial targets.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement KPIs to drive continuous improvement and performance optimization.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives and implement best practices to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Ensure procurement activities support sustainability and social responsibility goals.
  • Establish and enforce procurement policies and procedures that meet compliance and industry standards.
  • Identify and mitigate procurement risks to ensure business continuity and resilience.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate procurement strategies with overall business operations.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all applicable work rules (e.g., GMP, PNT, INS, BPL) and follow defined procedures.
  • Complete required compliance documentation and records accurately.
  • Comply with established quality, safety, hygiene, and environmental standards.
  • Report any incidents or irregularities to the direct manager promptly.
  • Perform tasks from lower professional groups when necessary to support team operations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in procurement management systems and tools.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6-8 years of procurement or supply chain experience, with a strong track record in strategic sourcing and purchasing.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry is highly preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience, including managing staff 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive performance and influence across complex, global matrix organizations.
  • Strong understanding of compliance, ethical standards, and reputation management within a regulated industry.
  • Multilingual capabilities are a plus.   

 

Equivalency:

Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.  Example:  If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience. 

 

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.  Frequently walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations and frequently travels within the United States.  Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
