Summary:                                                        

The Procurement Services Manager is responsible for providing direct accountability and oversight of indirect procurement for the assigned category, working closely with business unit leadership in pursuit of sustainable reductions in the total cost of ownership of goods and services procured by ensuring that the lowest long-term costs and highest quality goods and services are made available to Grifols.

 

Primary responsibilities for role:                                                

  • Manages a team of highly professional personnel in a regulated environment to support indirect expenditures in Grifols.

  • Responsible for the Purchase-to-Pay process in the USA for indirect purchasing, in coordination with finance.

  • Supports the Procurement Team in Ariba processes, spot buys, contract management, supplier relationship management, catalog updates, and RFX processes.

  • Collaborates with senior management to identify, develop, and implement strategies that drive achievement of department and organizational goals.

  • Supports strategic sourcing strategies for business continuity, risk mitigation, and cost management.

  • Develops and manages positive internal customer/supplier relationships and implements continuous improvements on an ongoing basis.

  • Audits usage and performance of suppliers and internal customers to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Leads and/or supports multiple projects with varying levels of complexity.

  • Collects and analyzes complex data sets with the intention of identifying new sourcing opportunities or supporting a strategic sourcing decision.

  • Resolves or assists in the resolution of obstacles within and between projects without significant executive management involvement.

  • Consistently plans assigned work, anticipates obstacles, and is accountable for driving timelines and projects to completion.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent knowledge of sourcing and procurement in a regulated environment (i.e. cGMP, SOX).

  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing strategies.

  • Excellent knowledge of reducing procurement expenditures by instituting best practice processes and negotiating favorable contracts through external partnerships/alliances.

  • Excellent negotiation skills with experience negotiating service contracts and overseeing all aspects of a corporate purchasing operations. 

  • Strong ethics and integrity as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Solid Procurement Digital tools knowledge and expert in SAP ARIBA                               

  • CPM/CPSM certification preferable.

 

Education

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of purchasing experience.

  • Preference of experience purchasing materials in the pharmaceutical/biotech/healthcare industry.

  • Experience managing a staff.

  • Strategic sourcing knowledge highly desirable.

 

Work is performed in an office and/or a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.  Exposure to electrical office equipment. Exposure to extreme cold below 32*, miscellaneous production chemicals, moving machinery and production equipment. Exposure to high levels of noise on production floor. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.  Occasionally walks. Often performs duties standing. Frequently bends and twists neck and waist.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Frequently drives to other facilities.  Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
