Summary: Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Technician
The Mechanical Maintenance Engineering Technician – is the subject matter expert responsible for preventive maintenance along with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of the equipment on the assigned area of responsibility. The Engineering Technician works with the Facility Maintenance Supervisor to meet the goals of the Facilities department in various tasks including planning, organization, and execution of Mechanical job assignments to meet the customer needs at B350 - PLC.
Primary responsibilities for role:
- Possesses and demonstrates a high level of working knowledge and aptitude, understanding how area equipment functions in process applications
- Experience with multiple maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, HVAC); with the ability to apply this knowledge to the complete, timely, technically-correct, cost-effective facility maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Work independently and as a Team Leader to troubleshoot and provide sound technical and engineering solutions for complex equipment, process and mechanical issues
- Locate/identify replacement parts, coordinate multiple and interdisciplinary work requests, and investigate equipment repair history using the CMMS
- Provide detailed documentation of all troubleshooting, and repair activities, and use a CMMS to document work activity
- Issue/complete job hazard analysis/safe work permits (hot work, excavating, confined space, hazardous atmosphere, etc.)
- Adhere to cGMP, Safety and Environmental requirements
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, job plans and/or equipment manuals to perform work
- Responsible for maintaining training curriculum requirements.
- Willing to initiate and drive system change as needed for robustness of systems. Able to specify new field equipment that follows plant standards for material clearance and ease of maintenance
- Assist with modification, installation and startup of new and existing mechanical, process systems and equipment
- Develop and administer qualification requirements
- Train and mentor other technicians
- Assume role of Lead Technician and Supervisor Designate when requested
- Weekly and as needed updates on important projects and problems with Instrumentation Supervisor

- Develop electronic data sheets
- Read, interpret, and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals
- Demonstrate strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply this knowledge to the various tasks assigned.
- Understand current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements
- Understand industrial plant safety and environment requirements
- Knowledge and training as required by OSHA on applicable safe work practices and process safety management
- Experience with multiple maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, HVAC); with the ability to apply this knowledge to the complete, timely, technically correct, cost-effective calibration and troubleshooting activities
- Understand technical documentation, i.e. piping and instrument diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, electrical schematics, precision machine part drawing, programmable ladder logic, mechanical assembly, software function documents, sequence of operations, OEM information
- Complete required Instrumentation Qualifications

- Associates degree in a relevant technical field
- 8 years relevant experience

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician 1,2,3 - is responible for preventive maintenance along with troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of the equipment on the assigned area of responsibility.
Primary responsibilities for role:
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on process equipment and support systems to ensure equipment reliability
- Troubleshoot and perform corrective maintenance on process equipment and support systems (converyors, SRM Stacking crane, ect.)
- Use a Computerized Maintenance Management System to document activity
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures, job plans and/or equipment manuals to perform work
- Adhere to cGMP, Safety, and Environmental procedures
- Issue/complete job hazard analysis/safe work permits (hot work, hazardous atmosphere (-30 degree C), etc.)
- Responsible for maintaining training curriculum requirements
- Be able to work in cold atmosphere to - 30 degrees C for short amount of time
- Complete required Maintenance Qualifications
- Assist with modification, installation and start up of new and existing equipment

- Understands how area equipment functions in process applications
- Experience with multiple maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, HVAC); with the ability to apply this knowledge to the complete, timely, technically-correct, cost-effective facility maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Proficiently use computerized maintenance management system (or equivalent like AMMS or SAP) to locate/identify replacement parts, coordinate multiple and interdisciplinary work requests, and investigate equipment repair history.
- Ability to support installation, startup and commissioning of Capital Projects.
- Knowledge and training as required by OSHA on applicable safe work practices and process safety management
- Use communication skills to effectively resolve problems with technical personnel including department managers, supervisors and outside technical support.
Requirements:
- Tech 1: Associates degree in a relevant technical field with 2 years relevant experience
- Tech 2: Associates degree in a relevant technical field with 4 years relevant experience
- Tech 3: Associates degree in a relevant technical field with 6 years relevant experience

Occupational demands:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment or warehouse with rotating shifts. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools and moving machinery. Operates forklifts, tractors and power equipment. Exposure to high levels of noise and to dust/gas/fumes/steam. Exposure to extreme cold below 32* and on occasion, exposure to extreme heat above 100*. Exposure to vibration or oscillating movements of the extremities or the whole body. Occasional entry into confined spaces, requiring kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting. Works at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders. Walks on uneven ground. Personal protective equipment required such as; protective eyewear, chemical suits, safety shoes and/or rubber footwear, gloves, hearing protection and a respirator. Heavy lifting and carrying of 45lbs. for up to 6-8 hours per day, with a maximum lift of 75lbs. Work is performed standing, walking, bending and twisting waist for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent foot movements. Occasionally reaches above and below shoulder height. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Frequent hand movements with simple grasping of one hand with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Hearing acuity essential. Color perception/discrimination, depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Performs a wide range of complex tasks. Adheres to a work schedule to meet production standards.
