The focus of the IT Applications Functional Manager is to execute global IT strategic and operational plans by leading and collaborating with technical and business teams to define and manage technology solution projects for clients.  The IT Applications Functional Manager supports the vision and strategy of the business by understanding the functions and processes of the assigned business areas as well as external influences, such as regulatory requirements, best in class practices, and economic factors.

 

  • Based in Clayton, NC
  • Position reports directly to Deputy Director, IT Applications
  • Ability to conform to policies and procedures in an FDA regulated environment, particularly in the area of project and change management
  • Serve as liaison between IT technical teams (based in U.S. and Spain) and the business
  •          Superior communication skills are required to coordinate and report on activities between international teams comprised of internal employees of various levels - support through executive level, contractors, and vendors
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong analytical skills required to assess and propose solutions to user issues with manual or system processes.
  • Skilled in the area of relationship management as our team works closely with people in different locations and time zones, e.g. L.A., North Carolina and Spain.
  • Experience in Supply Chain and logistics plans
  • User requirements and specification gathering.
  • Conduct steering and governance committee meetings with business users to assist them with defining priorities and establishing a roadmap together with the technical teams
  • Experience in medical device project development and FDA regulatory guidelines for system development
  • Proficiency with Project Management skills to define, execute and monitor project plans and coordinate project teams
  • Create project reports to be presented to higher management
  • Willing to travel – frequency will vary depending on demands

 

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration or related field or equivalent experience
    .
  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience
     
  • Supervisory experience preferred but not required

 

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists is expected. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35 pounds. Frequently drives to other facilities.  Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
