Director,Supply Chain

The Director, GTI Supply Chain Planning is responsible for directing and coordinating global, cross-functional teams focused on developing effective production and supply plans that deliver results which are consistent with company objectives contributing to annual sales of $1.8 billion. This includes development, communication and tactical execution of the long-term Production Plan and Master Production schedule, impacting the overall profit and ensure alignment with the strategic direction of the overall organization. In addition, this position oversees the compliance of MRP (SAP) systems in accordance with Company Policies and SOP's by directing GTI's Global Master Data activities.  This person must have an extensive knowledge of complex plasma processing and be able to analyze and offer contingency plans when situations arise that may impact the supply plan.  The Director GTI Supply Chain Planning must be able to analyze, manage, motivate, negotiate, and initiate complex situations in order to support company success.  As guided by the objectives of the company, the Director, GTI Supply Chain Planning plays a significant role as it relates to insuring the proper process controls, reports and systems are in place, allowing flexibility to demand signals while optimizing revenue plans and on-time delivery metrics.

 

Primary responsibilities for role:

  • Oversee the tactical execution of Supply Chain planning activities across Grifols GTI Manufacturing operations including; development and execution of  budget and long term production plans maximizing product throughput and capacity utilization; coordination of the S & OP activities with Sales, Marketing & Finance ensuring that the strategic, operational and financial targets of the company are supported appropriately.                                               
  • Directs the Sales and Operation Planning (S&OP) process for GTI supply and participates in overall enterprise S&OP process.                    
  • Directs preparation of detailed production schedules, manufacturing activity levels and establishes priorities for Production and Quality. Monitors manufacturing performance against budget and communicates issues and alternative solutions that require corrective action.
  • Pro-actively oversee the management of inventory and working capital requirements through planning & reporting, assessment of cycle time and de-bottlenecking CIP initiatives.   
  • Coordinates with Finance to develop WIP inventory budgets and forecasts that support requirements of production plans and DOH targets. Pro-actively oversee the management of inventory and working capital requirements through planning & reporting, assessment of cycle time and de-bottlenecking CIP initiatives.
  • Oversees coordination with Procurement to ensure production plan changes are updated to ensure the appropriate requirements for purchased goods and materials.
  • Coordinate with Contract Management and other Site functions as required to ensure all third-party contract manufacturing requirements are met.
  • Actively participates and coordinates Supply Planning support to Operations, product Life Cycle Management and functional systems (i.e. SAP) projects     
  • Direct and manage the activities of the Supply Planning and Global Master Data Teams of twelve.
  • Provide strategic direction to GTI's Global Master Data team who manages configuration of materials and vendor master data in SAP, in accordance with Global financial policies and standard operating procedures for GTI.      

 

Additional Responsibilities:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain management methods and processes, including Sales and Operation Planning (S & OP), business processes, production planning and inventory control.

Education:

  • At minimum a Bachelor's Degree, (Master's preferred) in Business, Operations, Material Management or related field. 
  • Advancing Productivity Innovation and Competitive Success (APICS) or similar professional certification preferred.                                         

 

Experience:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience, including experience managing a staff.
  • Direct experience with Biopharmacuetical prodcution in a cGMP environment, inclusive with project or technical leadership experience is required.                                                     

 

Sr. Director, Supply Chain

The overall responsibility for the Sr. Director, Supply Chain is to provide leadership of the tactical operation and strategic alignment of Supply Chain functions within GT Mfg. Operations.   Responsibilities include planning and scheduling of Operations activities, distribution, inventory management and the integrated coordination of the S&OP process with Finance and Global Planning. This function also provides management and oversight for third party contract manufacturing activities.

 

Primary responsibilities for role:

  • Oversee the tactical execution of Supply Chain planning activities across Grifols GT Mfg. operations including; development and execution of  budget and long term production plans maximizing product throughput and capacity utilization; coordination of the S & OP activities with Global Planning & Finance ensuring that the strategic, operational and financial targets of the company are supported appropriately.
  • Pro-actively oversee the management of inventory and working capital requirements through planning & reporting, assessment of cycle time and de-bottlenecking  CIP initiatives.
  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to the supply chain planning, ensuring cross functional coordination of business opportunities, process improvement initiatives and achievement of Grifols financial and business goals.
  • Direct the strategic and tactical operations of Logistics activities inclusive of coordination and execution of Distribution strategies through oversight of Cold Chain solutions and Freight carrier activities ( contracting & cGMP)
  • Oversight of Clayton Warehouse Operations & Services 
  • Oversee third party manufacturing and tolling agreements, including the sale, purchase and transfers of intermediate materials to 3rd parties and Grifols affiliates  
  • Provide strategic direction for GT's Global Master Data management, including material and vendor master data, in accordance with financial policies and standard operating procedures for GT. 
  • Actively participate as Operations / Global Supply Chain representative in the development of strategic & long range plans, analysis & implementation of Business Development opportunities and coordination of LCM projects and other strategic Operations initiatives. 
  • Provide strategic insight to the Bioscience Global Supply Chain organization and participate as active member of the Grifols Operations management team."     

 

Additional Responsibilities:         

  • Strong financial, planning and controlling background in order to drive consensus and agreement of the S &OP process within Grifols Bioscience.
  • The incumbent insures that all team members follow cGMP practices in the receipt, storage and distribution for raw materials and finished goods, maintaining strong interfaces with SME’s in Cold Chain solutions and Logistics activities to develop an internal center of expertise in cGMP Logistics within Grifols.
  • The responsibilities of this position require that the incumbent interact with a wide variety of internal & external partners in support of the entire Grifols supply chain.  Additionally this position will be involved with Industry and Supply Chain trade organizations representing Grifols.
  • Internally this position will interact with all functions at all levels across the Grifols organization. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong supply chain, procurement, operations and financial knowledge.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory requirements with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and German Control Authority (GCA).  
  • Effective team building and leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels within the organization and within a global matrix driven organization.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal and strong negotiation and business acumen.
  • Must be able to effectively manage a multifunctional organization and foster teamwork.

 

Education:

  • Requires B.S. degree with graduate level course work in Business Administration, Marketing, Operations, Materials Management or Strategic Planning and Procurement, or related field.                     

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in increasing positions within the field of Supply Chain Management/Materials Management or Finance.  
  • In-depth exposure to the S & OP process to drive cross functional consensus, demonstrating skills in conflict resolution, negotiations, and problem solving.  
  • Exposure in a regulated cGMP environment preferably in Biopharmaceuticals / Plasma Fractionation process and its various capacity constraints.
  • Detailed experience in supply chain management methods, including, Cold Chain Solutions, procurement, business process reengineering, as well SAP.  
  • Must have an overall perspective of business strategies and be able to maintain constant flow of input from senior management to assure proper prioritization.
  • Strive to satisfy customer demands in an environment with many unknowns.            

 

Equivalency:

Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.  Example:  If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.   

 

Occupational Demands:  

Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for  6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.   Frequently walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations and frequently travels within the United States.  Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues. Performs a wide range of complex tasks as dictated by variable demands and changing conditions with little predictability as to the occurrence.
