Summary:

Seeking an Automation Engineer with experience in Emerson DeltaV (preferred) and Rockwell PLC and HMI systems (desirable).  This position is focused on large scale project execution and supports the design, programming, execution, startup, and commissioning for Automation Systems within the Pharmaceutical Industry, specifically focused on Grifols Manufacturing Facilities.

 

Automation Engineer I

  • Integrate into supporting a large scale projects and collaborate with other automation engineers. 
  • Will be recognized as proficient in their field such as specific control systems, instrumentation, process, utilities, or qualification testing.
  • Meets customer needs in support of business goals.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and oversee project management from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and commissioning.
  • Act as a technical expert, providing support for systems like DCS, PLC, SCADA, BAS, and validation processes.
  • Foster a collaborative and cooperative work environment while ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GxP).
  • Use your problem-solving expertise to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Provide after-hours support, as needed, to ensure project success.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Attention to detail and organizational skills and the ability to troubleshoot are required.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV systems and a solid understanding of batch/semi-batch operations is highly desired.
  • Strong interpersonal, technical writing, and communication skills.
  • Hands-on experience with centrifuges, fractionation processes, and/or CIP systems is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings like P&IDs and mechanical designs.
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment.  
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles in all or some of the following areas; Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical and Process.
  • A proven track record in project management and team collaboration.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with people at all organizational levels across multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to analyze and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Demonstrates integrity and a firm commitment to company beliefs and values.
  • Motivated self-starter.

 

Education and Experience Requirements:

Automation Engineer I Level:

 

  • Master’s Degree - Engineering, Automation, Computer, Industrial, Manufacturing, Related and 0 years of direct experience in automation engineering and/or validation OR
  • Bachelor’s degree - Engineering, Automation, Computer, Industrial, Manufacturing, Related and 2 years of direct experience in automation engineering and/or validation.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted.  

 

Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms.   Exposed to occasional extreme cold below 32* and high levels of noise in production areas. Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. May stand; bends and twists neck and waist for 2-4 hours per day. Frequent hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists.  Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Occasionally walks. Frequent foot movements.  Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 50lbs. Near vision and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences.  Performs tasks by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures.
