Summary:
The Director, Business Excellence is responsible for leading business optimization, continuous process improvement and also identifying opportunities for greater efficiencies at donor centers and support services. They will also be responsible for leading the Program Management Department and framework to ensure the Plasma Procurement Project Portfolio aligns with company's goals and performance. This position will work on optimizing plasma procurement and profitability while maintaining the highest degree of compliance and quality. Also, the Director, Business Excellence will lead the Center Ops Development team that will focus on accelerating the development of donor centers, center relocations/closures, and remediation. Each department within Business Excellence look to identify opportunities, evaluating business processes, business technologies, developing and implementing solutions working with Biomat USA holding and Business Units with the main goal of increasing safe and quality plasma collection while reducing the cost per liter.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher return on investment (ROI) and workflow optimization.
- Responsible for leading teams in the design, development and execution of opportunities to improve donor center operational processes.
- Work with key stakeholders to drive process improvements that quantitatively and qualitatively improve costs, quality, production and service.
- Directly oversees Business Excellence teams and employees.
- Assess challenges, metrics, effectiveness of donor centers for improvement in business objectives. This will include analysis of different areas such as labor, marketing, Donor experience, service, compliance, training and internal systems.
- Process efficiency and optimization, Business Practices Manual and Standardization of Biomat USA Business Units.
- Oversee the implemented Project Management strategic programs, monitors program performance and evaluates to ensure it meets Plasma Procurement and overall company goals.
- Provide tactical direction to the Center Ops Development Teams(s) to ensure the proper coordination and planning of activities are able to be executed on time, while maximizing production growth and quality profiles.
- Responsible for the Key Performance Indicators of the Business Optimization, including operational performance.
- Collaborate with Biomat USA departments to look for opportunities and develop improvements in the processes.
- Lead cross functional teams in developing effective processes, procedures and solutions to meet business needs.
- Manages changes in priorities, funding, scope, and timing to maintain alignment between business expectations and budgets.
- Develop and implement solutions for complex processes, projects and business requirements.
- Train and educate the organization. Implement continuous improvement methodologies including, but not limited to 5S, Lean Principles, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and others.
- Propose and implement new processes for improvement to donor center employees, monitor and report on results.
- Focus on company-wide and inter-departmental processes that require a high degree of collaboration and communication.
- Manage the Failure Mode and Effectiveness Analysis related to process flow in operations, cost reduction and avoidance and process design.
- Ensure professional and accurate reporting / dashboards are created for the different levels of stakeholders and leadership.
- Accountable to KPI for project outcomes.
- Evaluate performance of the leadership team in the Business Excellence department
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills of delegation, organization, and coordination of the intra-department activities
- Responsible for maintaining budget and reducing costs.
- Other tasks, projects and assignments as instructed by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must understand the principles of Operations.
- Plasma collection background preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of safety, quality, and manufacturing programs.
- Demonstrated understanding of continuous improvement methodologies and ability to implement effective improvement strategies and solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizations skills, ability to handle diverse situations and manage multiple projects.
- Strong verbal and written and presentation skills.
Education and Experience:
- 4-year college degree in business or manufacturing required. Prior training and certification as a Six Sigma Black Belt in root cause investigations is valuable.
- Requires a minimum of 8 years of operations environment, standard procedures, plus continuous process improvement experience and knowledge in project management and analysis. 5 years of Training Operations experience.
- Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in a variety of areas: centers, warehouses and office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Frequently drives to site locations, frequently travels within the United States, 30% travel, may require international travel. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Ability to apply abstract principles to solve complex conceptual issues.
The estimated pay scale for the Director, Business Excellence role based in the United States is $158,538 - $237,806 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
