The role of Health & Safety Manager will support functional areas within GWWO by leading GWWO’s Operations H&S function, supporting and advising local Managers to implement corporate standards and policies.
This role will oversee the design, development and implementation of programmes, policies and processes which foster engagement and a culture focused on Health & Safety. The H&S Manager will provide leadership in driving continuous improvement in Health & Safety performance, while assuring comprehensive operational compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To lead the H&S function in GWWO Operations Ireland, including setting the strategy and KPIs for the site.
- To implement and lead ISO 45001 Safety Management System at GWWO.
- To implement and drive continuous improvement in key programmes, such emergency preparedness, permit to work and contractor management.
- Maintain the audit schedule for GWWO.
- Primary contact for local authorities, HSA, Irish Water and Corporate H&S.
- To assist the HR Function in the development of health surveillance and health promotion activities.
- Develop, implement and monitor the health & safety programmes to effect compliance with all governmental regulations and corporate standards.
- Implement incident management activities inclusive of injury management investigations and recordkeeping.
- Identify and implement corrective actions for preventing recurrence and risk control.
- Performance of H&S hazard assessments, monitoring and recommendations to control hazards.
- Develop, implement and maintain training programs for health and safety.
- Stay abreast of new H&S legislation and industry best practice.
- Build relationships with key departments to foster support for H&S programmes.
- Additional project tasks such as support of CAPEX projects.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Ability to collate and analyse H&S data to support decision making process.
- An effective communicator: able to engage and coach others at various levels in the organisation about H&S challenges and opportunities in the manufacturing and support functions, and work with these stakeholders to develop and implement solutions.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, to support the development and implementation of H&S objectives and maintenance of compliance.
- Ability to build relationships with all stakeholders.
- People and H&S Leadership within a comparable environment.
- A third level qualification in a relevant discipline specific to H&S
- 6- 8 years’ experience in a similar role with people leadership skills.
- Proven track record in managing and influencing senior management and professionals in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent leadership, presentation, strategic thinking/planning, communication, and collaboration skills are a must.
- Support development of site CSR activities
