Automation Technician
About the Role
As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for all aspects related to manufacturing engineering and production equipment at Medion Grifols Diagnostics AG. This includes managing the equipment lifecycle, supporting production, ensuring the reliable and fault-free operation of filling lines, and leading technical activities such as troubleshooting, maintenance, continuous improvement, and the implementation of new equipment and systems in compliance with cGMP, Good Engineering Practices, and internal standards.
The role operates in close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Production, Quality, Engineering, sister companies, external service providers, and equipment suppliers. You will contribute to both operational and project-based activities while supporting efficient, compliant, and reliable manufacturing operations.
What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting manufacturing processes, equipment, and facilities.
- Propose improvements and provide technical guidance to production teams
- Serve as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the modification, optimization, and lifecycle maintenance of existing hardware and software systems.
- Maintain and monitor the lifecycle of production equipment.
- Ensure compliance and proper integration of cGMP, internal policies, safety, hygiene and environmental standards as well as Good Engineering Practices into all activities. Maintain accurate records
- Ensure reliable and fault-free operation of filling lines.
- Organize and supervise maintenance, servicing, and calibration activities performed internally or by external vendors.
- Perform system weakness analysis and implement corrective measures.
- Support the continuous improvement of systems and equipment performance, efficiency, and compliance.
- Analyze error messages and alarms and independently implement corrective actions in compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to the timely and effective resolution of production incidents and technical issues.
- Actively contribute to all project phases, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system qualification and validation activities
- Manage technical documentation, including test protocols and reports.
- Coordinate design, testing, qualification, and validation activities with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
- Monitor project progress, support the successful implementation of engineering projects, ensuring timelines and budget adherence.
- Provide support in other areas as required by business needs.
Who You Are
- Apprenticeship as an Automation-, , Electrical- , Mechatronics Technician , or a related technical discipline.
- Fluent English is required. Mother language either German or French with good knowledge of other language
- Experience in manufacturing engineering and production equipment, preferably within the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, biotechnology, or medical device industry.
- Experience troubleshooting manufacturing processes, equipment, and automated systems.
- Knowledge of cGMP requirements, GMP documentation, Good Engineering Practices, and manufacturing regulations.
- Experience coordinating maintenance, servicing, calibration, and external service providers.
- Experience participating in equipment implementation, qualification, validation, and continuous improvement projects.
- Knowledge of Cognex In-Sight, Studio 5000, Factory Talk and Zenon.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently analyze technical issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and external partners.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and project timelines.
- Proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.
