Summary:

Alkahest, a Grifols company, is seeking a Project Manager (PM) to lead an exciting, key program transitioning from preclinical research into first in human trials. In collaboration with the program team lead, the PM will drive development of a first-in-class recombinant polyclonal antibody therapy for the treatment of infectious diseases. The PM will be responsible for working with internal and external resources to deliver exceptional, high quality project plans across all phases from concept to market. This is a hands-on position with real leadership of every aspect of development with exposure to all stages of the process from discovery to man. Starting from the day you join, you will have immediate impact supporting the development of a new product candidate. You will need to rapidly absorb relevant information and develop an understanding of interdependencies across functions. Working with these various functions, you will then, create and maintain project timelines and be instrumental in driving the next phases. Primary Responsibilities for role:

  • Establish and maintain Program Development Plans and integrated project schedule to enable accurate project, financial and portfolio analyses and ensure accurate inputs are provided into business planning processes. Ensure alignment with project sub-teams and functional partners. Proactively identify project risks and prepare mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Develop and present status reports to peers and senior management
  • Collaborating with Finance, Program Lead and other cross-functional departments, oversee and prepare project budget including resources and costs,.
  • Communicate, document and archive project team activities and decisions. Act as a primary contact for project team related information
  • Facilitate project team meetings, cross-functional communication and decision making, ensuring alignment with internal stakeholders, leadership and external partners.
  • Identify, recommend and implement opportunities for streamlining team and business processes.
  • Partner with senior leaders to ensure the team achieves and maintains a high-level of sustainable performance by contributing to team management best practices.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, adapting of complex techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.      
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.                                                                                                                                                                
  • Proactively identify project risks and prepare mitigation and contingency plans
  • Maintains frequent communication with the cross-functional project team members and key internal stakeholders so that all parties are aware of current project status, issues, contingencies, and milestones    
  • Builds strong working relationships across departments, with key stakeholders, and Senior Management to ensure transparency and to facilitate communication

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines
  • Ability identifiy misalignment issues between functional groups and assertively drive issues to resolution.      
  • Proven ability in negotiating/influencing and collaboration skills                                                                                                                                                         
  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of the early drug development process, preferably from early research through clinical development
  • Financial acumen; capable of planning and oversight of project budgets.  
  • Proven ability to develop detailed integrated project plans
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to adapts style and use persuasion in delivering messages that relate to the wider firm business
  • Extensive intermediate to advanced computer skills (Power Point, Excel, Word, Smartsheet, and SharePoint)

 

Education:

BA/BS Required; Educational degrees must be relevant to position (e.g., biology, chemistry or other related scientific area)

 

Experience:

Typically requires 8 years of related experience.

 

Experience supporting discovery research projects is a plus

 

Equivalency:

Master’s degree with 6 years experience; PhD with 3 years experience, or equivalent work experience.

 

The estimated pay scale for the Project Manager 3 role based in San Carlos, California is $150,000.00-$190,000.00 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 15% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
