Summary:
Provide manufacturing leadership, strategic vision, and tactical execution to support the key business needs of Grifols Diagnostic Solutions. Deliver results by meeting the production schedule, improving process robustness, and improving operational efficiency/ excellence. Maintain the highest quality, compliance, and safety standards. Use strong technical skills to provide leadership in troubleshooting, process evaluation, and critical decision making.
Primarily Responsibilities:
- Functional responsibility for leading all stages of the manufacturing operations for a CBER regulated diagnostic reagent manufacturing facility.
- Continue to grow and develop an empowered, high performing manufacturing organization with accountability for recruiting, training, safety, and career development.
- Lead efforts to continuously improve manufacturing using the principles of lean manufacturing and operational excellence.
- Participate as a member of the Diagnostics Operations Management team to establish priorities and provide strategic direction for the organization.
- Partner with other functions / process leaders in GDS as well as other Grifols sites to ensure timely and successful completion of key business initiatives.
- Partner with other functions to deliver key project milestones including initiatives in facility, equipment and process improvements, IT systems and other projects.
- Provide business leadership to manage the budgeting and planning processes for manufacturing effectively to ensure that customer, financial, and operational objectives are met.
- Support and lead change management initiatives.
- Ensure compliance in accordance to Grifols’ quality, compliance, safety, GMP, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Ensure ability to release product in a timely manner by managing the assessment of technical issues, investigations, and CAPA’s effectively and efficiently.
- Participate on strategic initiatives such as tech transfer projects, partnership projects, and due diligence activities with business development.
- Up to 15-20% Travel required
Education:
B.S./ M.S. in engineering, biotechnology, or biological / pharmaceutical sciences required. MBA preferred.
Experience:
- Requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical environment including leadership and management roles.
- Specific experience leading upstream and/or downstream bulk manufacturing processes strongly preferred.
- Microbial production experience preferred.
- Strong Project Management team leadership experience required.
Equivalency
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
The estimated pay scale for the Director, Manufacturing role based in San Diego, California, is $188,000.00 - $250,000.00. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 30% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
