Summary:
Provides support to Corporate Legal Department and its internal clients in connection with contracts, policies and other legal matters. Negotiates, oversees, directs and/or manages contracting, compliance, and document management matters. Maintains docket of ongoing matters and database of completed contracts.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Drafts and reviews various types of contracts (e.g., Confidential Disclosure Agreements, Services Agreements, Software Licenses, Sales Contracts, and Consultant Agreements).
- Drafts, reviews, and revises contracts, agreements, amendments, communications, and separation/settlement documents.
- Conducts research provides support to in-house counsel and internal clients regarding vendors, contracts, templates, and other legal matters or documents.
- Represents the Legal Department in meetings with internal clients and third parties, as necessary.
- Works independently and closely with internal clients in multiple locations to: develop relationships, understand business needs, legal requirements, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Recieves and reviews requests for contracts and legal support, maintaining an organized docket to manage ongoing matters.
- Maintains contracts and other documents in corporate record management system; supports compliance with record retention policy and document reduction efforts.
- Recommends new approaches to effect on-going continual improvements to templates, policies, procedures, and documentation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of legal concepts, practices, and procedures, with a heavy emphasis on business/procurement contracts.
- Experience working with purchasing/procurement contracts is preferred.
- Experience working on records retention policies and document remediation projects is preferred but not required.
- Excellent legal analytical, critical thinking, drafting, editing and writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tactfully manage a wide variety of client requests.
- Experience working directly with clients and attorneys is preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Sharp attention to detail, highly organized and task-oriented with excellent sense of prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work under pressure.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to travel, as needed.
Education:
Bachelor degree in business or related field. Paralegal Certificate from an accredited program preferred.
Experience:
Typically requires 8 years of experience working in a legal department or law firm.
Equivalency:
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: if a job level typically requires an Associate's degree plus 2 years of expeirence, an equivalent could include 4 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree.
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks and stands. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 25lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.

The estimated pay scale for the Sr. Paralegal - Contract Specialist role based in Los Angeles, California, is $84,500.00-$126,000.00 per year/per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 8% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
