The electrician will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on industrial electrical systems and life safety systems.
Primary responsibilities for role:
- Conducting preventive maintenance (PM) on electrical systems.
- Troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with circuits and generators.
- Performing generator and UPS PMs.
- Conducting thermal scanning to assess electrical performance and identify potential issues.
- Replacing and testing circuit breakers.
- Inspecting and testing electrical equipment and systems.
- Ensuring compliance with electrical codes like NEC, NFPA 70E and related regulations.
- Installing, modifying, and repairing electrical systems and equipment.
- Responding to emergencies and service requests in a timely manner.
- Collaborating with other team members to ensure operational efficiency.
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, components, and equipment, including motors, control panels, and lighting fixtures.
- Identifying and resolving issues with electrical systems and equipment.
- Performing inspections and periodic maintenance on electrical systems to prevent problems.
- Understanding and interpreting electrical and electronic system drawings and schematics.
- Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures.
Additional Responsibilities:
Site Electrician 1:
- Develop knowledge and skills needed perform job as required by the area of responsibility
- Install raceway
- Pull and terminate wiring
- Maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment up to 600 volts
Site Electrician 2:
- Perform all responsibilities as defined in previous job level
- This job level requires proficiency in most areas of responsibility
- May perform training of other technicians in areas of proficiency as needed
- Maintain life safety systems
Site Electrician 3:
- Perform all responsibilities as defined in previous job level
- This job level requires proficiency in all areas of responsibility
- Perform as a team leader
- Responsible for training of other technicians
- Understands how area equipment functions in process applications
- Partner with engineering personnel to devise and implement equipment and system improvements
- Capital project support
Additional Responsibilities:
Site Electrician 1:
- Familiar with National Fire Protection Association/National Electric Code
- Possess strong electrical/mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills
- Communicate clearly and concisely in written and verbal form
- Build positive working relationships with cross-functional teams across multiple business units
- Read, interpret, and apply information from files, drawings, catalogs, reports, and manuals
- Demonstrate strong mathematical skills with the ability to apply this knowledge to the various tasks assigned.
- Understand current Good Manufacturing Practice requirements
- Understand industrial plant safety and environment requirements
Site Electrician 2:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as defined in previous job level
Site Electrician 3:
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities as defined in previous job level
- Technical expertise in all types of electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Understands how area equipment functions in process applications
- Experience with multiple maintenance crafts (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, piping, HVAC); with the ability to apply this knowledge to the complete, timely, technically-correct, cost-effective electrical maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
- Proficiently use computerized maintenance management system to locate/identify replacement parts, coordinate multiple and interdisciplinary work requests, and investigate equipment repair history.
- Ability to support installation, startup and commissioning of Capital Projects.
- Knowledge and training as required by OSHA on applicable safe work practices and process safety management
- Use communication skills to effectively resolve problems with technical personnel including department managers, supervisors and outside technical support.
Education:
Site Electrician 1: Associates degree in a relevant technical field
Site Electrician 2/3: Associates degree in a relevant technical field – Site Electrician 2 and 3 must pass CA State Electrical exam
Experience:
Site Electrician 1: 2 years of relevant experience.
Site Electrician 2: 4 years of relevant experience.
Site Electrician 3: 6 years of relevant experience.
Equivalency:
Site Electrician 1:
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
Site Electrician 2/3:
Directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies supported by licenses may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment or warehouse with rotating shifts. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposure to chemicals, electrical manufacturing equipment, hand tools and moving machinery. Operates forklifts, tractors and power equipment. Exposure to high levels of noise and to dust/gas/fumes/steam. Exposure to extreme cold below 32* and on occasion, exposure to extreme heat above 100*. Exposure to vibration or oscillating movements of the extremities or the whole body. Occasional entry into confined spaces, requiring kneeling, crawling, climbing and squatting. Works at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders. Walks on uneven ground. Personal protective equipment required such as; protective eyewear, chemical suits, safety shoes and/or rubber footwear, gloves, hearing protection and a respirator. Heavy lifting and carrying of 45lbs. for up to 6-8 hours per day, with a maximum lift of 75lbs. Work is performed standing, walking, bending and twisting waist for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent foot movements. Occasionally reaches above and below shoulder height. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Frequent hand movements with simple grasping of one hand with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Hearing acuity essential. Color perception/discrimination, depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Performs a wide range of complex tasks. Adheres to a work schedule to meet production standards.
The estimated pay scale for the Site Electrician role based in Los Angeles, CA, is as follows for the 3 levels.
Site Electrician 1 is $63,015 to $73,750
Site Electrician 2 is $73,805 to $83,900
Site Electrician 3 is from $ 84,000 to $95,500
Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
