Job Summary:
Under general supervision, perform semi-routine material handling functions to support all internal and external customers in an accurate and timely manner. These functions include but are not limited to material receiving, stocking, transfer, cycle counting, and maintaining accurate documentation records (paper & computerized) in a cGMP warehouse environment.
Essential Job Duties:
● Material receiving and stocking duties may include inspecting trailers, unloading trailers, unloading bulk chemical deliveries, accurately accounting for all material received, sorting, labeling for product identification, stacking and loading pallets, inspect for damage, internal documentation creation/completion and data entry into SAP or related inventory tracking systems.
● Material transfer (Intradepartmental) duties may include verification of material/ batch numbers and release status against transfer order, assembling order for issuing, delivery of material/ batch to internal customers including staging / storage locations, production lines or other plant locations.
● Interplant (Valley/COI) material movement duties may include verifying trailer temperatures are within specificaion prior to loading/ unloading trailers, prepare Bills of Ladings and immediate transportation of temperature controlled material to indentified temperature controlled storage.
● Maintains accurate and complete inventory control of raw materials and packaging commodities in SAP by recording transactions in a timely and accurate fashion. Participate in establishing methods and procedures to ensure inventory accuracy. Support the research, reconcile and correct inventory discrepancies. Maintain First In First Out (FIFO). Utilize barcode scanning equipment and systems to support inventory movement.
● Recycling, Hazardous and bio-hazardous waste handling may include handling of hazardous / bio-hazardous / pathological waste and used medical equipment as required per established procedure and Environmental Health & Safety policy. Including routine transportation of waste from manufacturing areas to outside, dedicated storage locations.
● Perform routine housekeeping duties in warehouse and work areas in compliance with departmental procedures and cGMP requirements. Areas must be kept organized, safe, and secured. Areas must be kept clean and sanitized per procedure. All logs pertaining to cleaning, sanitization and pest control must be legible and kept up to date in accordance with procedures.
● Support and Comply to the ISO14001 Environmental Management System.
● Stack/load pallets and transport material by operating various types of material handling equipment (e.g. forklift, electric pallet jack)
Job Requirements:
- Ability to read, understand and follow written procedures and processes
- Solid math skills including knowledge of U.S. and metric systems
- Ability to speak read and write in English
- Valid state Driver’s License required.
- Basic SAP/ ERP knowledge, computer, typing and 10-key pad skills
- Basic cGMP, chemical and hazardous material knowledge
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs, occasionally lift and/or move between 50 and 100 lbs using lifting aids, techniques, or appropriate assistance
- Ability to work in different environments including indoor, outdoor, confined spaces and cold storage areas (+5C and -30C).
- Must be able to operate forklifts and hand-operated material handling equipment to lift/move material
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to others, manage conflicts effectively, effective problem solving skills, attention to detail, safety oriented and work well in high volume, fast passed environment.
- Able to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Able to work rotations and weekends as required.
- Must be flexible with working hours / shifts in order to accommodate the 24 hour, 7 day plant operation.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent, Pharmacy technician license is a plus. APICs courses or certification desirable
- Forklift certification desirable
- DOT Training/ Certification desirable

1-3 years experience in a production inventory control environment working with SAP/ MRP/ ERP systems, PC for data entry, inquiry and communication, and shipping using UPS, DHL and/or Federal Express systems.

Minimum 1 year previous experience with pharmaceutical/biologics/related healthcare manufacturing clean environments and or a warehouse environment

Minimum of 1 year of forklift experience (stand up or sit down) in a warehouse environment.
Equivalency: Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly delated education and experence and/or competencies may ber considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level typically requires an Associate's degree plus 2 years of experience, an equivalent could include 4 years of experience of a Bachelor's degree.
Occupational Demands : Manual dexterity to perform all clerical and warehouse related functions of the job. Ability to stand for extended periods - up to four (4) hours at a time. Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move between 50 and 100 pounds using lifting aids, techniques, or appropriate assistance. Must be able to operate forklifts and hand-operated material handling equipment to lift and/or move material. Ability to work in different environments including indoor, outdoor, confined spaces and cold storage areas (2-8°C). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to toxic and caustic chemicals and frequently to biological hazards. Hearing acuity essential. Depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Frequently performs simple and routine tasks that vary little each day by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures. Maintains work pace to meet production standards.

The estimated pay scale for MAterial Handler role based in Los Angeles, California, is $20 to $21 per hour. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool.
