POSITION SUMMARY
As a Continuous Project Improvement Specialist in the production/manufacturing area, your primary responsibilities will be to support and drive continuous improvement initiatives and provide project management support within the department. This position will partner with department SMEs and cross functional teams to perform analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization. The role blends data analysis, process mapping, change management, and cross functional collaboration to build a culture of ongoing improvement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Partner with department SMEs (e.g. Sr. Supervisors, TPS, etc.) and cross functional teams, to perform thorough analysis to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for optimization.
• Collect, analyze and propose to department management relevant data to measure performance indicators, such as cycle time, yield, quality, and cost.
• Propose and manage process improvement initiatives, methodologies, and best practices. This may include process redesign, automation, standardization, and waste reduction.
• Maintain project schedules, including list of required deliverables, timeline, resources and driving cross functional team meetings to meet project requirements and execution.
• Establish and maintain performance metrics and dashboards to track the effectiveness and impact of improvement initiatives. Regularly report on key performance indicators and present findings to department management, providing insights and recommendations for further improvements.
• Assist in developing and delivering training programs to enhance the understanding and adoption of continuous improvement principles and methodologies among employees. Provide guidance and support to team members in implementing improvement projects.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in continuous improvement methodologies.
• Lead and facilitate lean/six sigma initiatives (including but not limited to Kaizen events, value stream mapping, root cause analysis, 5S, DMAIC)
• Generate project charters and lead project teams to implement CI initiatives on-time
• Generate project schedules to define roadmap and track key milestones from initiation to closure
• Generate change control (as required) and track completion of change control requirements for CI initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• BS/BA degree in a related filed and a minimum of 2 years of working in operations with experience in continuous improvement and/or project management. Preferrerd in a cGMP, FDA work environment.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (MS Excel, JMP).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent communication and facilitation abilities.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to influence without authority and drive changes.
• Preferred knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma tools (Green Belt or Black Belt).
• Translates vision into reality by deciphering corporate message and implementing strategy.
• Interprets business strategy and develops objectives to align with and support the strategy.
• Works on issues of a diverse scope where analysis of the situation requires the evaluation of a variety of factors.
• Develops and administers schedules.
• Guides staff to achieve tactical and strategic business goals.
• Develops value-added solutions that meet internal and/or external customer needs.
• Manages the functional processes and staff for a department; may manage through subordinate supervisors/managers.
• Guides a group of staff to achieve tactical and strategic business goals.
• Responsible for results including costing, methods, and staffing.
• Typically reports to a Department Head; may report to another Department Leader.
• Strong tactical decision-maker with ability to handle unforeseen issues.
• Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the short-term goals of the company.
• Frequently interacts cross-functionally with peer managers.
• Interaction normally requires the ability to gain cooperation of others.
• May develop and recommend with senior management financial goals/budgets for a single department.
• Recommends how resources should be allocated within the department in order to meet business goals.
• Moderate spending authority includes purchase requisitions and expense reports.
Occupational Demands: Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/manufacturing environment. Exposure to biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Exposed to occasional extreme cold below 32* in production areas. Exposure to electrical office and laboratory equipment. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear, garments and gloves. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Stands for 2-4 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Ability to make precise coordinated movements, of the fingers to grasp and manipulate objects. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck and waist. Frequent foot movements. Color perception/discrimination, depth perception and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and to 20/100 in the other eye. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 50lbs. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Frequently performs routine tasks by following a set of written or oral instructions/procedures.
The estimated pay scale for Continuous Project Improvement Specialist role based in California, is $89,930 - $100,000 per year. Additionally, the position is eligible to participate in up to 5% of the company bonus pool. Final compensation packages will ultimately depend on education, experience, skillset, knowledge, where the role is performed, internal equity and market data.
