Summary:

The Project Engineer II is a mid-level position with responsibilities which include:  design, plan, execute, start-up, commission, and document mechanical and/or  architectural aspects of small to medium size capital projects. Projects may be new construction and/or improvements to existing facilities (i.e. offices, warehouse, data rooms, temperature controlled storage areas, general manufacturing areas, and industrial facility systems (i.e. Refrigeration, HVAC, Compress Air, Water systems, Electrical, etc.).  The Project Engineer II with minimal management will bring capital projects to completion. 

 

Primary Responsibilities for role:

  • Deliver a basic design and may lead the efforts of installation of different industrial facility systems related to the architectural and mechanical aspects of the projects.
  • Prepare Scope of Work and bid documents for systems fabrication and installation.
  • May propose designs and implement upgrade projects for existing industrial facilities.
  • In the course of executing construction projects, follow the established Grifols procedures for engineering documentation.
  • May represent Grifols Global Facilities group during project execution meetings with both internal and external clients. 
  • May develop and confirm technical viability of a project in cooperation with multi-functional teams to enable a smooth implementation at manufacturing while fulfilling regulatory, quality and marketplace requirements.
  • May formulate project objectives, approaches, schedules, risk assessments, budgetary constraints and manpower requirements in accordance with customer needs.
  • May serve as a member of cross-functional project teams as it relates to the execution of projects and meeting deliverables (i.e. objectives, deadlines, budgeted cost, etc.).
  • Interface directly with customers and suppliers in resolution of specific application problems. 
  • Monitor execution of both outside design and construction work to identify performance issues with regards to quality of work, schedule, and cost.

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management is required.  Emphasis on architectural, structural and mechanical design is preferred. Supplemental training / education in business administration desirable. 

 

Experience:

Five (5) years of engineering in an industrial environment, or construction management experience is required. Project management training preferred. Related experience in a pharmaceutical, GMP, or FDA regulated environment is preferred. 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge of Architectural and Mechanical Engineering design and detailing in an industrial facility; Familiarity with generally accepted good engineering practices and standards; Familiarity with local and national codes and standards; Experience with city permitting is a plus; Familiarity with codes as they relate to the ADA; Familiarity of pharmaceutical facility designs and industrial facility systems; Knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC and refrigeration systems; Familiarity of electrical and building automation systems; AutoCAD drawing capability required. Revit knowledge preferred; Advance knowledge with Bluebeam or other PDF editing software; Working knowledge of cGMP, Process Flows, P&ID, Design Software, Schematics; Advance knowledge of MS Office, MS Project, etc.  
  • Must be detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy and thoroughness; Displays flexibility with assignments in different units; Demonstrates high level of facilitation skills to reach consensus; works toward win-win solutions that benefit the business; Excellent verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization; and, Strong analytical skills and the ability to multitask with low level of supervision.
